Virtual E-Mail
This help page describes the required procedure to set up your e-mail software in order to utilize your QGM provided Virtual E-Mail
Virtual E-mail which is forwarded to your internet access account will be received as any other e-mail. No changes are necessary to your e-mail software to recieve forwarded e-mail from your domain.
In order to avoid e-mail from piling up on the server and incurring additional disk space usage charges you should always configure your e-mail software to "delete mail on host" after retreival.
If you wish to have your domain e-mail address appear as your return address (yourname@yourdomain.com) rather than the e-mail adress provided by your Internet Access Provider, MOST e-mail software will allow you to specify either your e-mail address, or "reply-to" address. Thisis typically found in either "options", "setup" or "configuration"
Information such as SMTP info, username, login id, and password should REMAIN as provided by your local Internet access provider.
QGM does not provide Internet ACCESS accounts. We would be happy to recommend a local access provider if you need one.
Individual POP Boxes
This help page describes the required procedure to set up your e-mail software in order to utilize your QGM provided POP e-mail box.
When you request a QGM POP e-mail box, upon acivation you will receive [to your old address] an e-mail notification containing the following information:
Mailbox [user] Name
Full Name
Password
Address that your POP box receives mail addressed to
Enter the the pop server address above in your e-mail software setup or configuration dialog box where it requests the POP3 SERVER.
Enter the Mailbox Name above in your e-mail software setup or configuration dialog box where it requests a USER NAME.
Enter the Password above in your e-mail software setup or configuration dialog box where it requests PASSWORD.
Additionally, you may wish to set your "reply to" address as:
username@yourdomain.com
DO NOT change the SMTP server in your configuration. The SMTP server is provided by YOUR Internet Access Provider, and used when you SEND mail.
NOTE, that by configuring your e-mail software in this manner, it will not receive mail from your e-mail account provided by your local Access Provider, but will receive mail addressed to the username@yourdomain listed above. In order to continue to receive mail from other e-mail accounts, please talk to your Access Provider and request mail be forwarded to your new POP account. A very few Access Providers do not provide forwarding services. To check other e-mail accounts in that case, you will need to change your configuration settings for each account, or obtain e-mail software that supports multiple POP accounts.
If you DO NOT WISH TO CHANGE your current email software or e-mail address to use the new address above, QGM can also provide forwarding services from username@yourdomain to another e-mail account. Please send e-mail to updates@qgm.com to request this feature.
Forwarding and Autoresponders are not available for individual POP boxes.
